Japan | adidas Originals Collaboration with Pop Artist, Keiichi Tanaami: “adicolor by Tanaami”

For the coming spring and summer 2019, adidas Originals is releasing their first collaborative collection "adicolor by Tanaami" with Japanese pop artist Keiichi Tanaami that’s dropping on March 21.

The characters of Mr. Tanaami’s work fused with iconic silhouettes from adidas Originals.
"I was ecstatic to be able to work with adidas Originals.The logo became the core of this project and it was the catalyst for my character creations. Seeing them transform into wearable art is a wonderful new aspect that adidas Originals has created."

Mr. Keiichi’s art work and book displayed at Tokyo art gallery "NANZUKA" is featured on the collaboration items of adidas Originals’ iconic models 3-stripes California T-shirt, the Firebird tracksuit that marks its revival for the first time in four years. The collection expands to a total of 9 items.

Prior to the official launch date, the collection will start its limited time pre-sales today, March 8 at BEAMS T HARAJUKU with a autograph and picture session with Mr. Tanaami himself.

Artist Keiichi Tanaami was born 1936 in Tokyo. As one of the pioneers of Japanese contemporary artists, he’s been at it ever since the 60’s traversing in different genres of media in design, illustration, animation, experimental movies, paintings and sculptures. His works are housed in world renowned museums such as MoMA (USA), Walker Art Center (USA), The Art Institute of Chicago (USA), M + Museum for Visual Culture (Hong Kong) and The Berlin National Museum (Germany).
