Global | Chanel Acquires British Men's Swimwear, Orlebar Brown

French luxury goods group recently Chanel announced the completion of the acquisition of British men's swimwear brand, Orlebar Brown. The total sum has not been disclosed and brand founder Adam Brown will continue to serve as creative director while Paul Donoghue will remain as CEO. Philippe Blondiaux, Chanel's chief financial officer, said the acquisition was aimed at leveraging the synergy of women's high-end swimwear brand, Eres. Orlebar Brown and gaining some experience in the menswear business.

As early as August last year, Orlebar Brown began working with Cavendish Corporate Finance to start various financing options. The sales reported was estimated at around £50 million.
Founded in 2007 by Adam Brown, Orlebar Brown was originally launched as a digital brand with a tailored men's swim trunking line. In 2010, it expanded into a full-length holiday collection such as T-shirts and polo shirts. It’s said that the company's swimwear business currently accounts for 36%.
