Hanae Mori Associates welcomed their new designer, Kenta Matsushige (born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1988) after designer, Yu Amatsu ended his contract in October 2018. Matsushige’s debut collection will show this September for spring and summer 2020. The designer received the Kobe fashion grand prize while he was in Esmod Osaka, and after, studied at the Paris-Couture union school in Paris, whereby graduating, worked at a famous Parisian Maison. In 2014, he won the Grand Prix Yale Prize, known as the gateway for young designers and is currently in Paris designing for his namesake brand, Kenta Matsushige.
Former designer,Yu Amatsu, established himself as an experienced designer in New York and is known for his sharp silhouetted forms. Many suggested that Matsuhige’s designs are compatible with Hanae Mori’s ethos, which underlies Parisian elegance. His representation of Hanae Mori will have a different conduct which will be worth looking into the coming Fall.
