On March 12th, Riccardo Tisci, who assumed his position as Chief Creative Officer of BURBERRY did the unexpected and announced on July 6th the collaboration with Britain's leading rebel queen designer, Vivienne Westwood to deconstruct the iconic checks and trench coats in a new British flair. The collection is set to release in December 2018 and a portion of its proceeds will be donated to Cool Earth, a charity that focuses on saving tropical rainforests.
“Vivienne was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself,” Tisci wrote on Instagram. “I am SO honored to announce a new Burberry collaboration with the original British Punk.” says Tisci on Instagram. “When I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something. She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.” Tisci said.
BURBERRY chose Riccardo due to his there is a wide connections in addition to his creative profile. The classic and quaint elements of the brand now encounters a rebellious punk. The whole world is keen to see what kind of sparks will be lit in the two opposites.
